Variety is the Spice of Life

by Ann Nunn, Administrator of Health Services

As the new Health Services Administrator,

I thought it would be interesting to see life at RiverMead through the eyes of a Resident.

I approached Mrs. L., a longtime resident, and asked if I could experience the day with her.

Mrs. L. was happy to have me along for the day's events.

RiverMead's Swimming Pool measures 50ft. x 16.5 ft.

We first enjoyed omelettes to-order being prepped by Keith Fournier, RiverMead's

Executive Chef (of twenty years!) in front of a dining room of residents.

After breakfast, Mrs. L. has to decide between two excursions, Orchard House;

Homestead of Louisa May Alcott, or another trip; out-on-the town in local Peterborough.

She has already accomplished some relaxing therapy in the 84 degree heated pool and

arrives back in time for a salad lunch of shrimp and mussels scallopini in the Bistro.

After lunch Mrs. L. joins her Committee of the Performing Arts.

They are planning the next concert at RiverMead; a Monadnock Music Group, which is to be held in the 150-seat RiverMead Auditorium.

Time for a short relaxing visit with her neighbors out on their screened-in porch.

Now off for a game of bridge in the Main Living Room.  (This is a very popular game on campus).

In the evening, Mrs. L. can choose to dine in the Mead Main Dining, the Bistro, the Pub which serves brick-oven pizza, or Flavors Grill ('conscious cuisine').

A variety of dinner entrees include "Tagine of Lamb, Raisins, Almonds", "Macaroni and Cheese" or the "Catch of the Day", with several soups and many side dish options to please everyone.

Chef tells me, 'there are 25 entree options available across the 5 dining venues nightly'.
